A Great Blessing In The Shape Of Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

The hormone replacement therapy can be of different types depending upon the needs of the patient. But, very recently, a new concept in the hormone therapy started getting the attention of a lot of physicians and the researchers. The name of this process is Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Now the question is that how does this Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy differ from the other typical type of therapies?

Bioidentical hormones are those types of hormones who have the similar molecular structure as in the bodily hormones. Although these bioidentical hormones are extracted from the natural sources but still they are synthetically prepared. The usual sources of bioidentical hormones include the urine of pregnant women, horse's urine and other plants. Since different patients have different hormonal needs so it is quite pertinent for the physicians to prescribe the one which is less dangerous and more effective. When compared the synthetic hormones are quite different to the bioidentical ones as the synthetic hormones are like one size fits all; whereas, the bioidentical hormones can be compounded as per the hormonal needs of the patient.

This form of replacement therapy can be done in a variety of ways. The most common method is the injection of hormones through an intramuscular injection, but, now days, this method is not so much popular because the injection enhances the testosterone levels at once and by the time the next shot is due, the levels would drop significantly. Another form of commonly suggested dosage is the Transmucosal (through the cavity between the gums and the cheek) which is not only easy to administer but also quite effective in enhancing the hormonal levels. Then there are the transdermal methods which are most commonly used and widely popular among the users. This is because of the fact that it directly by passes the liver metabolism and in this method the testosterone or any other hormone directly enters into the blood stream. Gels, lotions and the patches are the most common types of methods. The patches or the gels are applied on those areas of the body where the density of the hair is quite thin so that the liquid could get properly absorbed in the blood stream.

To conclude it will not be unfair to declare that the BHRT is a blessing for so many women around the world who are suffering from the post menstrual stress disorder and also for those elderly women who are undergoing osteoporosis.
